Apple’s getting into the credit card business with Apple Card, a new way to pay if you own an iPhone. It’s a credit card directly from Apple housed in the Wallet app, with no fees, lower interest rates, cash rewards, while also being private and secure. The announcement comes from the company’s event in Cupertino, California, where it debuted other services like Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, and Apple News Plus. Cash costs Aussie SMBs big time
A national study, commissioned by payments company Square, has revealed that Australian small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are wasting an average of 216 hours (around 29 working days) each year counting and banking cash — that’s a minimum cost of $8.7 billion in annual wages for the SMB sector. Square’s research points to a growing attitude shift among the majority of Aussie SMBs (60%) who agree that the key motivator for transitioning to cashless is to reduce time waste for staff, in addition to customer preference and the security risks with storing cash on-site. Fintech start-up QPay gets $1M in funding from Angels and Sharks
Student marketplace and payments app, QPay, has secured a $1 million cash injection after funding from the Sydney Angels Sidecar Fund 2 was supplemented by a $380,000 combined investment by Steve Baxter and Naomi Simson in exchange for 8.4 per cent of the firm’s equity during last night’s episode of Shark Tank. Funds were also received from American Express, and from the Chairman of the Australian British FinTech Cyber Catalyst, Andrew Chick, to make up the total $1 million. Financial services company, FSA Group LTD launches Easy Bill Pay, a bill payment service which allows users to pay and store bills and organise their finances quickly, easily and conveniently. As many as a third of Australians pay their bills late and this can cost them money and affect their credit report. On average a late fee of $24 is charged and that adds up.
